Jaguars Release Troubled WR Matt Jones

Posted on March 16, 2009 by James WNo Comments

The Jacksonville Jaguars released former first round wide receiver Matt Jones after he was arrested for violating parole stemming from his 2008 drug related arrest.  Jones failed a drug and alcohol screening last week after drinking beer during a round of golf.

Jones struggled through most of his career but posted his best season to date catching 65 passes for 761 yards and two touchdowns.  Jones could find his way to another roster based on talent, however a suspension from the league is very likely.

Jags WR Williams Cleared of DWI Charges

Posted on March 13, 2009 by James WNo Comments

Jaguars wide receiver Reggie Williams, who was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated back on February 27th, was cleared of all charges after it was discovered that he was 0.03% below the limit.

While Williams won’t face charges the fact that he was driving with any BAC wont endear himself to head coach Jack Del Rio or commissioner Roger Goodell.  Technically the league can suspend players without being convicted so a suspension is not out of the question.
