Some notable picks include:

  • The New England Patriots receive the first compensatory pick (the 33rd in the 3rd round) for losing cornerback Asante Samuel to the Philadelphia Eagles.
  • The New York Giants received the 36th pick in the third round for losing safety Gibril Wilson, linebacker Kawika Mitchell and linebacker/defensive lineman Reggie Torbor.
  • The Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans each received four picks (the maximum allowed) after losing six players each.

It is believed that if the team can not find a deal he will be released.

The Arizona Cardinals have re-signed linebacker Clark Haggans to a three year deal. The 10 year veteran played in 11 games last season before being placed on injured reserve with a foot injury.

The Washington Redskins signed defensive lineman Renaldo Wynn, who formerly played for the team from 2002 through 2005. Wynn was a backup on the Giants last season and played for the Saints in 2007.

The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed cornerback Fernando Bryant and offensive lineman Trai Essex to one and two year deals respectively.

The remainder of the contract pays Coles a $3 million signing bonus (spread out over four years) and a $4.7 million roster bonus.  Coles’ base salary will be approximately $1.9 million per year and there are various other incentives worked in to the deal.
